Foursquare Triptych 2004 is a rum produced by the collaboration between Richard Seale and Luca Gargano.
It is a blend of three vintage 2004, 2005, 2007 and three different types of barrels used for aging.
2004 is aged in ex Bourbon barrels, 2005 in ex Madeira barrels and 2007 in new American oak barrels.
Each of the three rums is a Single Blended like all aging Foursquare rums.
The Foursquare Triptych 2004 is bottled in the tropics in November 2016 and 5400 Bottles were produced.
Foursquare Triptych 2004 was immediately considered among the best rums in the world.
It has been aged in the tropics, as usual.
Color: very dark amber.
Nose: like an old El Dorado, only with more strength and less caramel. This means that the rum is not very phenolic, and that I am a while to find quite some toasted oak, cake, mocha, bananas and dried figs, coffee beans ... and a light note of smoke, of old cigars, cedar wood, quality turpentine, earth, mushrooms, very old Burgundy ...
In a way, it is rather delicate, despite its lethal force. Two "Angel Tears" of water dilute its power, opening it even to less accustomed palates.
Mouth: heavier, fatter, extremely concentrated, with a little incense, rose jelly, bitter oranges, wood licorice and vanilla.
Finish: long, mentholated, rich, honey.
To be paired with Foursquare Triptych 2004 with powerful and aromatic cigars such as Cohiba Piramides or Cohiba Maduro.
