Whiskey Glenlivet 15 Years French oak reserve is a single malt from Speyside aged in French oak barrels, mostly ex-Cognac, capable of giving the distillate an unmistakable sweet and fruity spice.
The Glenlivet Single Malt 15 Years is a Whiskey that is made by the Glenlivet distillery starting from a barley malt in which the raw material is directly selected from the Banffshire crops.
The water used comes from Josie's Well stream and the entire work process is divided between 14 stills, 7 used for the first distillation and 7 dedicated to the second.
Once the production process is completed, during which peat is never used, the Glenlivet 15 Years French oak reserve whiskey is left to rest for 15 years in French Limousin oak barrels, which once contained more Cognac.
Glenlivet was in fact one of the first distilleries to use French woods to mature their products, a custom that was then adapted and imitated all over the world.
It smells of citrus, fruit, candied fruit, butter and vanilla. The sip is soft, warm, long and spicy.
Color: recalls the shade of gold.
Aromas: On the nose, Glenlivet 15 Years French oak reserve whiskey is sweet with notes of caramel and toffe mixed with sweetish touches of fruit with spicy notes and hints of butter.
Flavors: On the palate it is light and sweet with notes of caramel, butter biscuits and milk chocolate.
The finish is soft, smooth and dry with interesting notes of bitter chocolate.
