Hazelburn Sherry wood 14 years is a special production of Springbank that takes its name from a closed Campbeltown distillery.
The Hazelburn distillery is famous for the triple distillation of its soft, full-bodied and round whiskeys. The distillery was active between 1825 and 1925. Hazelburn single malt whiskey 14 years is aged in oak barrels that previously contained oloroso sherry. Springbank is very stingy in triple distillation Hazelburn editions Hazelburn single malt whiskey 14 years Oloroso Cask is one of these limited editions, produced in only 9900 copies. Hazelburn whiskey is spectacular! This last batch of 14 years was bottled in 2019 at full grade, 49.3 degrees, and was aged exclusively in barrels that previously contained Oloroso sherry. As always, Springbank does not color or filter, and it looks rather dark to the eye.
Tasting notes: Color: Dark, very dense. Aroma: Complex with notes of red fruit, orange peel that intertwine with notes of hazelnuts and caramel. Taste: Rich and balanced, spicy with notes of orange peel, dark chocolate and hints of cooked pears. Finale: Long, sweet and spicy with a hint of candied fruit combined with chocolate and dried fruit So let's recap: peat, sherry and rum, in a mix aged for over 14 years in Scotland and a limited edition always very sought after. The Hazelburn single malt 48 years old Oloroso cask can be combined with an excellent Siglo I from Cohiba.
