The Aberlour Casg Annamh series is composed of single malts coming from small lots (small batch) matured first in ex sherry oak barrels then later in American oak barrels.
The rigorous selection of only the finest quality barrels, for the maturation of this whiskey has inspired the name.
Aberlour Casg Annamh is an expression that derives from Gaelic and means "rare barrel".
In fact, there are three types of barrels used in this phase: an oak barrel that previously hosted European Sherry and two different American oak barrels.
After a long aging the Aberlour Casg Annamh whiskey is bottled as a full gado cask.
The result is a bold, complex, full-bodied but also highly balanced single Malt, a memorable, savory whiskey with an intense character.
Color: Deep rich, dark amber.
Nose: The range of aromas is very broad to the nose, it opens up in a bouquet of aromas that recall notes of coffee and honey, hazelnut, followed by a nuance of candied peel and raisins.
Taste: The palate is full-bodied and soft, with fruity hints of apple, peaches in syrup and oriental spices that bring vivacity to the sip. Refined and persistent finish.
Aberlour Casg Annamh a whiskey for moments of relaxation and meditation, perhaps accompanied by a piece of good dark chocolate and an excellent Montecristo Cuban cigar or a Davidoff Yamasa petit churchill.
